Tox Instant Messenger?

This is billing itself as a FOSS replacement for Skype, with encrypted, peer-to-peer instant messaging, file transfer, and audio/video calls and conferencing; I'm interested in trying it. Is anyone using it? I installed a client on a machine with the Arch GNU/Linux distro; there's a GTK client called Venom in the Arch User Repository; I think anyone can just clone from git, build from sources, and install.
Tox home page is here:
I'm testing it on GNU/Linux and Android. Very promising project. Apparently they were approached by the FSF to become a GNU project but they declined.
Is Tox GPL? I installed one of the recommended packages from tox.im/Binaries and have the program open. How do I make an account?
Edit: found this page but still not sure how to find my ID

Yes it is GPLv3.
Tox clients generate an ID for you automatically. For example you can find your ID in "edit user" in Venom (click the triangle right beside your name at the top).
Thanks!
