It will be released when it is ready. What is the hurry? Aren't you
using the prerelease?

What is the hurry? Aren't you
using the prerelease?
That I am. But I'm looking forward to being able to suspend the machine instead of having to power it down.
A small thing I know...

Not a small thing.
Having it released does not mean the bug will be repaired. The best is
to describe the problem in the appropriate thread if there is one or
create a new one if you are sure there is not one with the same
characteristics as yours. The best is to report it as a bug.
Hope I was helpful.

I noticed that today in the pre-release version. The computer suspended and woke up okay, and then Freemind (mind map program) closed without warning. Another time, after suspend and wake-up, the computer restarted without warning.
Ubuntu 14.04 came out in April. Its long overdue to release Trisquel 7.
Given that I, and several others, are running the pre-release, this
suggests that there are no show-stoppers blocking the release. Maybe
I'm mistaken, and there's a blocker? I'm with Teg on this one.

My machine suspends but on resume the screen is frozen. It does not do this on Trisquel 6. Or on any other distro. But you're right to say it has no show stoppers. On the contrary, it's very good already.
As an aside - within the last few days a Beta has been released for the new ElementaryOS. Lots of crash dialogues. Inconsistent theming. (But Suspend works OK.) Trisquel 7, although not even released as a Beta, is more stable and more consistent visually. Just goes to show - a handful of hot young developers and a bounty system doesn't necessarily equal a better product.
HI together,
one request for Trisquel7
my wifi-card and ethernet-card are not supported by Trisquel up to now. could you please make these both cards work in Trisquel7??
Wifi-card:
02:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter (rev 01)
ethernet-card:
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 05)
They run with opensource. Graphic-card works fine in Trisquel 6.1. I already had a test with a Live-System. But I found out, that these two cards do not work and I can't connect to the internet in Trisquel 6.0 and in Trisquel 6.1.
So I would be really thankfull, if this could be made possible for Trisquel7 before it gets released.
That's not an easy thing to do and requires writing a replacement for the nonfree firmware. There is only one project so far that has reverse engineered WiFi firmware (OpenFWWF for some Broadcom chips). If someone releases a libre replacement firmware for your Realtek chip, you'll be able to install it.
Meanwhile, you can get a USB adapter with libre firmware from ThinkPenguin or Tehnoetic.

You give contradictory information. Please clarify in what systems do
the devices work?

I checked the driver sources and both require nonfree firmware.
hi Legimet,
OK, I understand. But one question: if Fedora only uses free software and no proprietary software, why do these devices run in Fedora then?? What do they do differently than other distributions?
Greetings
Letizia
Fedora is generally pretty good about free software, but they make an exception for drivers to ensure that their product works on all hardware.
Firmware. They make an exception for firmware. Firmware and drivers aren't the same thing.
Fedora is only a completely libre system if you add Freed-ora, which is an unofficial package provided by the Linux-libre developers that conflicts with Fedora's non-libre firmware packages.
hi quiliro@congres..
They run in these distributions:
Ubuntu, LinuxMint, Ubuntu DesktopPack, Fedora, Xubuntu, Kubuntu
So I hope, that there will be a possibility to get them work in Trisquel. Because in my current Installation of Ubuntu DesktopPack.
Love Greetings
Letizia
As mentioned, your card depends on proprietary firmware, and this will not be included in Trisquel (that would undermine the whole point of Trisquel's existence). The solution is either to do without wireless, or get a new wireless card or USB wireless adapter that works with libre software. An easy place to shop for libre software friendly hardware is Think Penguin:
https://libre.thinkpenguin.com
Alternatively, you can get the same "mini" adapter that Think Penguin sells from here:
https://tehnoetic.com/tehnoetic-wireless-adapter-gnu-linux-libre-tet-n150

Those are nonfree distributions. They are installing software that does
not respect your freedom. If you want to help make free firmware/drivers
for you card, there are several ways to do so:
- offer to pay someone to try to reverse engineer
- crowdsource to pay for the above
- offer to chip in for the above
- reverse engineer yourself
The alternative to the above is to buy another card (usb or internal) or
to let the maker of the card violate your rights and of the whole
community though you and and us if we also accept his unfair conditions.
Please try to avoid this unfairness.

"- reverse engineer yourself"
Please stop giving absurd advices. Obviously, the person who asked the question is not technically skilled enough to do so (and I think only a very tiny fraction of humankind is).
It's like "There is no flight available for your destination? How about building your own plane?"
People might get the impression that you're making fun of them.
