Update on AMD GPUs and Libre Kernel

Last year we got to the point where I could adjust refresh rate and resolution on many AMD GPUs that were in the R* 300 series and older using the libre kernel. Previously I had zero success on AMD GPUs. I couldn't game much on them though for 3D games. Super Tux Kart on my R9 270 was basically a slide show. I tried my R9 270 today on the new 6.9.0-gnu kernel and was able to get up to 15 FPS on Super Tux Kart. 15 FPS isn't great but it's 15 frames more than I was getting before. I also am able to get my RX 590 to boot where before kernel 6.9.0-gnu it just gave an error message at startup. I can't adjust refresh rates or resolutions on the RX 590 still but progress is progress.
I have an AMD GPU in my Talos II and unfortunately it does not work at all with linux-libre. This is different from x86 where the non-free BIOS loads the firmware before the OS starts. When I use linux-libre, I also use my X200 laptop or some of those SBCs from https://www.fsf.org/resources/hw/single-board-computers. My long term goal is to develop a GPU that respects users freedom, that is usable for both mobile and desktop VR. For my use case NVIDIA is even worse, since most GPUs that I have tested do not work with the POWER9 at all. I won't buy the Steam Deck, even if it can run Guix and move to OpenPOWER and ARM long term. I think that VideoCore can be liberated.
Did you test NVIDIA working with nouveau as Kepler series on Talos II?

I seem to recall you having the 5700 XT, am I correct ?

I'm wishing you well on the Libre-SOC project and donating when I can !
I heard someone talking on IRC at talos channle, saying that Nvdia is removing powerpc support completely in the coming months.
Why were you thumbed down for this? Is this a misleading comment or something? Or misinformed?

I have always liked playing STK in slideshow mode. You get to do things you would never dare doing in continuous mode.
