Hi everyone,

I am thinking of upgrading the SSD on my Thinkpad with Trisquel.

If i replace the SSD, Do i need to reflash Trisquel? Also, what happens to my data?

Wondering the best way to go about this.

You can move the install from one disk to the other, but it might be
better to reinstall and clean up the system.

Your data is all on the disk you have replaced. You will need to copy it
to the new disk.

I would create a backup with daja-dup or back-in-time, install the new ssd, install trisquel and restore the backup.

I have Back in Time on this laptop, so I can use that.

However, will it keep the backup even if I remove the SSD?

You should backup to an external drive (possibly in a remote machine, through the network).

If the new SSD has more storage, plug both SSDs on a system and dump the whole volume with the Trisquel install to the new SSD using dd, then extent the partitions to use all available storage, the partition UUIDs on the fstab may need to be updated for the system to boot but that's simple to do.
