usb key thumb drive boot-up hang

Greetings,
Booting from my usb key thumb drive with live image works very well, and I am generally impressed with the trisquel distro... I was first introduced to it via FSF and the membership boot card.

The problem I am having with my machine (hp s7400n slimline) is that the boot-up hangs intermittently during start-up if I leave the splash panel up (pulsating trisquel symbol) while booting... sometimes it hangs there forever.

If I press ESC key as soon as the pulsating trisquel splash panel appears (so that I can see the detailed boot-up messages) then the boot-up always works fine.

What is causing this? Is there a configuration or boot option that I may use to prevent this hang-up?

thanks in advance.

Is your install on the USB key a permanent (are the file your create kept after a reboot?). If no, then I do not know how to diagnose the problem. If yes, then I guess the logs are saved. After a hang and a reboot take a look at /var/log/syslog. This timestamped log may give you the reason why it hanged. You can read this file from the graphical utility in the System/Administration menu.
