USB microphone

Does anyone know of a microphone that uses a USB connection that works with free software? I probably need one when using my netbook (EeePC 1001PX), as the microphone shares a port with the headset. Should all microphones work out-of-the-box or do some require non-free drivers?
I will probably just use a USB webcamera that I have which has a built-in microphone by Microsoft (this model: http://www.h-node.com/webcams/view/en/160/Microsoft-Corp--LifeCam-HD-5000), but a dedicated USB microphone would of course be preferable.
Hi,I've got this USB audio/microphone working with Trisquel:
Bus 001 Device 010: ID 1130:f211 Tenx Technology, Inc. TP6911 Audio Headset
It's a USB 3D SOUND, model SJ-588 (http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/showdev.php?id=4678) (http://www.dealextreme.com/p/virtual-5-1-surround-usb-2-0-external-sound-card-22475) and it perfercly works with Trisquel, both output audio and microphone input
Bye!
Thank you!

The USB specification has a special audio class, [1] that should handle
microphones, speakers etc. I never had used USB microphones, but
theoretically they should just work, as mice and memory cards do. If
there is no CD with drivers with the microphone, it probably uses the
USB audio class, and should be recognized. That is the best case
scenario.

I got a generic external soundcard which has a USB connection which works. Here is the lsusb output:
