Thank you!

VLC 2.0 official PPA is only available for Ubuntu 11.10.

The Trisquel 5 is based on Ubuntu 11.04, but you can install the unstable version (2.1).

In Terminal:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/master-daily
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install vlc

I tested and it worked perfectly.

I have to tell you that trisquel supports MUST cover only what trisquel
includes. As trisquel can't control anything outside itself.

Besides, it only took me to search "ppa vlc 2" to find tutorials and stuffs,
to be honest, seems like you didn't even try it.

You can ask, of course, that's why this list exists but try by yourself
before.

Us Trisquel 4.0 users are out of luck because according to https://launchpad.net/~n-muench/+archive/vlc2 it cannot be backported due to Lucid not supporting multiarch. The libbluray requirement is the reason for that but thankfully when Trisquel 5.5 and 6 get released, the multiarch conflict will hopefully be a thing of the past.

Until then, I'm reliant on the above PPA or https://launchpad.net/~lucid-bleed/+archive/ppa

Its a shame that OSX gets all the love for VLC's interface. Tell me again how the button placement and progress bar cannot be duplicated for Linux by default?
