My subscription to My Private internet Access will be ending soon. What is a good cheap encrypted, no logging, shared ip vpn? Or are they the cheapest?

Also I have a friend from peru who is interested in a cheaper vpn. What vpn service would you recommend for them? They would like something cheaper than PIA VPN.

Check this VPN Comparison Chart: http://is.gd/wWXFVS

My preference is Mullvad but it is a bit more pricey than PIA.

If you want a better and cheaper alternative than PIA. I would suggest FrootVPN.com (Sweden) or Privatoria.net (Czech Republic).

privacytools.io has a list of "good" VPN providers, starting at $36/year.

I can't make a recommendation solely on price, but, imho, AirVPN (http://airvpn.org/) should probably be on your short list of providers to consider. Ethical, competent, and the client software (Eddie) is GPL licensed and works very well with Trisquel.

Thanks I will considered it. Are their servers free software too?

edit:
Check out their cool terms of service number 7:
7. use the Service with the direct or indirect purpose of inciting, aiding or abetting enforcement of copyright through means of any data collection and/or retention and/or any privacy violation.

Yeah! Isn't that neat? Air are also hardliners about net neutrality. After reading the first few posts of this forum thread, see Staff's rebuttal to the noise (comment #16), which I think is as clear a position as I think I've ever heard from an internet service provider:
https://airvpn.org/topic/12340-stop-running-tor-servers-behind-airvpn/

As for whether Air servers run free software, I cannot comment with any certainty. I suspect they run some custom software, which if not closed license, may not be publicly distributed. You might wish to enquire directly. The client software itself, at least, is GPL (which leverages the "community" version of OpenVPN and other libre licensed frameworks).

Did you accidentally create this double post or did the software do it?

I intended it to be a direct follow up to nevermoreraven's reply (#4), not a reply to the thread.

(And I note that my replies earned no marks, but my double-post garnered a vote-down. Tough crowd!)

Right, just asking because there was a problem with the forum software making dupes. Good to hear this was a good old fashioned man made error! :)
