Is there a webcam recording program that will allow me to select a USB microphone instead of my laptop microphone? Cheese does not seem to offer this option.

Use the sound settings to control this (under System Settings). Cheese just uses whatever the defaults are.

I can't find System Settings in Trisquel Mini ... do you know how I can change the sound settings with Mini?

Should I install the program xfce4-mixer, to access sound settings?

Edit: by the way thanks for your quick and helpful reply onpon

Ah, I'm not as familiar with LXDE. Looking at a Trisquel Mini installation I have in a VM, I'm not sure where the setting is.

When you right-click the volume control applet, you get an option called "'Volume Control' Settings" and that opens a command-line program called "alsamixer". I'm guessing that's probably what you need to use. Not entirely sure, though.

Thanks again; I'll have a closer look at alsamixer soon

I'm thinking about recording the event as audio only this time; the webcam that I have is not that great so maybe an audio recording is better this time
