Hello, I have been using openmailbox.org for long time since I found it's under the FSF recommendation.

Recently I found a big change in the openmailbox.org

I found some posts on the web that people started to find the alternative or replacement to openmailbox.

So, I want to know what has changed and how does it matter at all?

Thanks.

The option to use IMAP/POP/SMTP to access mail now requires a pro account, which is 4-5 dollars a month. Furthermore, as a user of the service, I can testify that I was not notified of this change via e-mail: the only 'notice' I got was suddenly losing access from my mail client.

On top of that, I have some suspicions (though they are NOTHING MORE at this point). The new site layout wreaks of 'corporate minimalism', and any mention of free (or even open source) software seems to have disappeared. Maybe it's just me, but this doesn't seem promising.

I've just mailed to FSF regarding this change so-that they can review and check whether it is qualified as "service running on Free Software" or not.

What is 'corporate minimalism'?

In the webmail interface there is an icon for storage, you can click there, and look for your data. My data was not lost :)
