Wireless RTL8191se chipset doesn't not detect network

Hi, after an hour of unsuccessful attempts to install the realtek RTL8191se driver on my laptop, I must ask for your help.
So far, I downloaded the proprietary driver (rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0015.0127.2010) and compiled it, then rebooted.
After that, I typed "ifconfig wlan1 up" to activate it. When I type "ifconfig", it shows :
wlan1:avahi Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 70:1a:04:e4:48:54
inet addr:169.254.6.147 Bcast:169.254.255.255 Mask:255.255.0.0
UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
Interrupt:18 Memory:f86a8000-f86a8100
but the network manager doesn't detect anything, even after enabling wireless network.
What should I do?
Perhaps the proprietary driver won't work because our libre kernel is missing a necessary module. In any case, we do not recommend that you install proprietary software on your computer.
It sounds like a sour deal, but we hope you will purchase a wifi card that works with fully free systems (like most recent Atheros cards) and stand strong for your freedom. I made that decision, and I do not regret it.
I understand your point of view but I really want to get my wireless chipset working. Maybe I'll get a wifi card later, but not at the moment. I can't really afford it.
Anyhow, I don't think that the problem reside in the libre kernel. I'm so close to make it work so, any other solution?
I agree with AndrewT. However, here is what you are searching for. Notice that the driver you mention is distributed under the terms of the GPL. It is the firmware that is not free.
@Magic Banana
I just tried the tutorial, complete it successfully, but I'm still unable to detect wireless networks, even though iwconfig shows my wireless hardware.
Any other idea?
