Yet another Ubi-partman issue

Dear Trisquelists:
I am trying, unsuccessfully, to install Trisquel on a middle-age laptop (HP Spectre XT, Windows 8, 64bit, 8 GB RAM, 430+ GB NTFS). The system has been restored to factory settings.

In the middle of the install I got the error "Ubi-partman failed with exit code 141"

I have found in several forums that the error has to do with the impossibility of deleting the partition in which Windows is allocated.

I have also tried Debian, Ubuntu with similar equivalent errors (not finding the partition, etc.).

I tried to delete the main partition from the Windows native Device Manager, from DOS, and with GParted to no avail.

I wonder if you may have any advice on this matter.
I resist to believe that the migration to GNU/Linux cannot be possible.

Hope you and your loved ones and good and healthy.
Many thanks in advance.

Let me first see if I have understood: your disk now has no partition but the installer still fails, with Ubi-partman's 141 error?

Here are what you need to do:

1. Log on Losedows 8, go to advanced power management settings, and disable Fast Boot. (Fast Boot is a major anti-feature that prevents users from modifying the hard disk/SSD.)
2. Restart the computer and enter UEFI settings, disable Secure Boot and optionally enable CSM (since you have fully restored to factory settings).
3. Boot the computer with Live USB, run GParted and re-create partition table (in order to fully wipe out the original partition table), depending on the booting mode (UEFI or legacy BIOS). Create MBR (MS-DOS) partition table if you use legacy BIOS mode or GPT partition table if you use UEFI mode.
4. Proceed with installation.

Update: I suddenly remembered that HP systems refuse to boot the operating system under legacy BIOS mode if there is no active primary partition on the disks. In other words, you can't use GPT and legacy BIOS mode simultaneously on HP systems. Sorry for the inconvenience.
