Hello. I just upgraded my Trisquel to 5.0, everything works fine but this small issue.
So, my mouse cursor just hides randomly. That's probably not fully random process but I'm not sure when it hides. I noticed it mainly hides when I move my cursor to icons on panels or links/text areas (on web browser). Sometimes it hides when I don't move it for about 3-5 seconds but sometimes it hides just when I move it.
Cursor works normally but sometimes it's just invisible.
It's not big problem and I can work normally but it's kinda annoying.
I don't have this problem on login screen so I think it's Gnome-related problem. I gotta it on every user account.
Some tips, please? ^^ I think this is bug but it would be just mis-configuration of something.

Hi there. Since the exact nature of this problem is unknown for the moment, perhaps this would be better suited for the forum or perhaps not since the symptoms are known... Anyways,
I updated to 5.0 on my machine and have noticed no such issue but I did notice some issue on another updated machine. If I click on the desktop the cursor vanishes until I move it again. The one with the problem is running a radeon hd 2400 video card. Which video card do you have? Are you using the default driver? Are you using the stock kernel? You can find out by opening a terminal and inputting
lspci -nnk|grep vga -iA2
and
uname -a
lspci -nnk|grep vga -iA2 returns:
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation GT215 [GeForce GT 240] [10de:0ca3] (rev a2)
Subsystem: Giga-byte Technology Device [1458:34e5]
Kernel driver in use: nouveau
And uname -a returns:
Linux sueroski-gnulinux 2.6.32-28-generic-pae #55trisquel1-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 1 00:50:27 UTC 2011 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
I Google'd "cursor disappears" a lot but I only found two reasons. Those are: Compiz addon causes it (that's not it, I don't use Compiz... even I uninstalled it - no change) and HWMouse option "on" in Xorg configuration (I turned it to "off" but it didn't work also - still the same... it's also not this). None of those 2 reasons was mine ones.
No idea what could cause this... it kinda upsetting me when I vectoring something in Inkscape by mouse, annoying thing sometimes.
Ok, different brand and driver so scratch that...
Maybe it is some problem with the version of nouveau that comes with that kernel and your hardware. One thing that might help is trying a newer Linux-libre kernel. See http://www.fsfla.org/svnwiki/selibre/linux-libre/
There are even links to binaries at the bottom of the page if you can't or don't want to compile yourself.
Any update on this? Have you tried this with Trisquel 5.5?
On my desktop with the default kernel this persists. Haven't tried newer kernels or any other debugs.
Ok, marking as active since you are experiencing the issue. If anyone can provide more insight that would be great.
