LibreOffice Writer "Export as PDF..." security options not working well

LibreOffice Writer "Export as PDF..." security options not working well: when a password is set to protect editing on the document and one chooses the options to disallow printing and copying of content (and maybe editing?) it has no effect and anyone can copy PDF's content or print it.

This sounds specifically like a problem with LibreOffice. I recommend you report the bug upstream to the Document Foundation who are the authors of Libre Office.

Here is some information:

I recommend this because we are lacking in developer time so the time spent is ideally on critical bugs to the distro (i.e. freedom bugs, program crashes, ect.) A bug in an individual package like this would be better handled by the authors of that specific package. You will probably get a faster and more complete response that way.

If it is, why give the options if they won't be enforced? They just let the author of the document think that he's doing one thing when he's not?! I'm confused. I'll have to ask them myself in the #libreoffice IRC channel.

UPDATE: When i told those guys at #libreoffice that i was using LibreOffice 3.3.4 they were surprized and told me that the last stable version is 3.4.5

How can i update?

Another point of view: must we allow creating DRM contents with trisquel?

"Security options" for pdf are just another name for DRM, and pdf readers like okular can avoid them.

Marking as won't fix. This is something that needs to be taken care of upstream. The user should try installing the latest version of libreoffice (see the link above) to see if the issue still happens. If it does it should be reported on their bug tracker.
