Abrowser updated, added language packs, and somehow broke my NordVPN add-on. It keeps disconnecting and asking for my user i.d. and password. I'm currently using IceCat to browse, but wanted to give everyone a heads-up...

That's odd. In my case, the new Abrowser update actually fixed some issues I had. It didn't help me with my depression though.

The add-ons are Firefox add-ons. NoScript, HTTPS Everywhere, and Privacy Badger are working normally, it's just the NordVPN add-on that keeps intermittently turning off. If anyone has any actual insight, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Is this what you're referring to?

If so, it is proprietary software. I recommend either configuring
OpenVPN for use with NordVPN so that you don't need their addon, or
switching to a more freedom-friendly VPN provider. I have had good
experiences with Mullvad.

Yes, CM, that's the one. I'll look into the OpenVPN configuration, per your suggestion. On IceCat, I have configured my NordVPN connection by manually configuring the Network Proxy settings as recommended here:

https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/proxy-setup/firefox/

This ^^ method precludes the need for a proprietary add-on. I actually prefer having as few add-ons and third-party software as possible. Not just for my freedom, but also for my security...

As an aside, I tried copying my .mozilla > abrowser file from another machine to my main computer, and that didn't work, for some reason. I deleted my abrowser file, opened Abrowser up, and transferred bookmarks via html. I'm back up and running. No idea what I did, but my vpn is working again.

Did you go to about:profiles to make sure that your original profile is
set as the default?

I see a "Profile: default-release (This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.)" and a "Profile: default"

I'm assuming the profile in use is the one that I want to keep, and that the "Profile: default" can be removed?

If everything about your current profile looks correct and you're sure
that you don't need the other profile then nothing bad will happen if
you delete it. However, I might keep it. Sometimes when troubleshooting
it helps to temporarily switch to the default prodile to see if the
problem is a bug in an Abrowser or a problem with your configuration.

Nice. I wasn't aware of Mullvad.
