I am new to GNU/Linux. Recently I installed a full Trisquel on a USB flash drive. Now I can boot Trisquel from the USB flash drive. I don't use any file from the hard disk. But when I open the GUI file manager (Nautilus), the hard disk is still there under the Devices section on the left column.

Because I don't use any file from hard disk. I hope there is a way to hide hard disk automatically when I boot Trisquel.

Anyone has any idea?

Thanks!

Hello Freeuniverse,

welcome to trisquel and gnu/linux. Sorry this will not be an answer as I do not know how to do it. But I have two questions:

when creating the freeusb did you leave some free space? if you did not then when you do find out how to do it it will not be saved.

why do you want to hide it? the drive does not mount unless you tap on it. it just indicates it is there.

Sounds to me like he didn't make a live USB but a regular install onto a USB, so all the free space is there and modifications will remain.

I have to admit I'm somewhat curious as to why as well.

In Trisquel 7, that is very easy: http://dave.lyonmania.com/2014/08/01/disk-display-settings-in-nautilus/

There is no easy solution in Trisquel 6, but it is doable: http://www.worldofnubcraft.com/969/hide-your-disks-or-partitions-from-nautilus/

If you want Trisquel 7, here it is: http://devel.trisquel.info/makeiso/iso/

Thanks Magic Banana! It worked on Trisquel 6. It's not difficult.
