Hey guys, this is my first time over here. Unfortunately I've been having an annoying problem with my fresh install of Trisquel 7.0 on my new pc build. I set my system volume at 100% and every time it lowers itself down to 50%. I am a complete newbie so I have no idea how to solve this, any help will be appreciated.

supernice nick! :)

Welcome to the community.

It is not very clear to me what the issue is. I mean, I know you have problems with the sound volume but it is not very clear when and how this happens. Does this happen when you log out/login or restart the OS?
Or is this happening during your user session?

I like very much pavucontrol (if you use pulse audio) and if I recall correctly, inside the pavucontrol settings there's a way to set your sound volumes and also LOCK them so they don't change.

cheers

It happens while im logged in, enjoying a video game or whatever, the sound just drops to 50% or so, I change it and it drops again and again. Unfortunately I've no idea what pulseaudio is, I guess I'll have to do some research. My OS is default if it helps some how.

EDIT: Using pavucontrol I disabled my Gtx 650's hdmi audio (which I don't use at all, I use its vga port), and it "seems" to have solved the problem. I'll update when enough time has passed to confirm it. Thanks for your help, pavucontrol is a cool thing to use indeed.
