Can't add category to app drawer

I'm finding impossible to add a custom category (i.e. Entertainment) to Gnome's app drawer (the lower-left Trisquel logo button). I have created both .desktop and .menu files and stored them in their respective locations. but I can't manage to make them appear where I want. Am I missing any part of the process? Does anybody know the correct way to proceed? All clarifying answers are welcome.

As extra information, I'll add that I've stored .menu files in
/usr/share/extra-xdg-menus and /etc/xdg/menus/applications-merged (made
a link). I hope this helps,

There is a button "New Menu" in "Main Menu" (that you find in the "System Settings").
