I came across this post (https://trisquel.info/en/forum/how-install-chromium-0) from 2012 and wondered if the issues have been resolved concerning Chromium and free software.

I don't believe it has. I don't think it is top priority considering we have several quality free browsers anyway; Abrowser (Firefox) continues to get better with each release.

If there is any change, it's only in Debian and Ubuntu packaging
removing nonfree parts. We should check the licenses and sources of
remaining files, maybe it's already free in parent distros, or needs
small changes.

This will leave two issues that other browsers had: recommendation of
nonfree addons/plugins and user tracking (e.g. integration with Google
services). Some patches are needed for this, and it's what free distros
needed for Firefox-based browsers too.

Free distros don't have many developers and they already have much to do
without fixing another browser. Can you help?

Michal,

I'd love to help but not sure I have enough time to dedicate to this. If I knew more about what was involved I could better assess my ability to help.
