Great news everyone!,
I'm glad to inform that the Trisquel development team has been busy working on several goals at once, and just recently at the last development meeting (Wednesday at 12 ET) one big step on the support for new architectures on Trisquel 11.0 - Aramo was accomplished.
We have merged several changes on the kernel and debian-installer that now allows to build the tarballs with what seems to be the the missing support for,
- ppc64el
- arm64
- armhf
PPC64EL and Tallos II
This effort was targeted mainly to PPC64EL since its boot process is the most similar to current x86_64 machines now days and one of the most modern machines available with the RYF certification, thanks to Simon who have confirmed what seems to be the first Trisquel 11.0 install on a Talos II machine:
Seems to be a couple of small quirks to investigate but still this seems to be a good solid step on the right direction.
What about ARM you say?
There are still several priority task pending, for ARM support on Trisquel it will require to build and define specific Trisquel's documentation/know-how on the subject as ARM has much more nuance to take care of.
So the invitation is open to all the experienced users interested to follow or/and lead the discussion already on the trisquel-devel mailing list to help set the foundation and in coordination with the development team as the pending tasks get completed and more time can be invested on ARM support for specific devices.
Thank you to all the users that have taken the time to help testing, early adopters, contributors that keep funding the effort the Trisquel team keeps pushing and the community in general.
Happy testing, happy hacking!
Congratulations! This is a very big accomplishment, you folks have worked towards this for years. Very impressive.
Apologies if this should have been clear to me from reading this but does this mean that there will be an .iso for PPC64EL machines soon ?
The debian-installer tarballs with the latest mini.iso are available at,
There you can test the different archs available.
Specific for ppc64el,
Cheers!
Great work here everyone! I wrote a bit about the process to install Trisquel on the Talos II here:

It would be nice to add the ISO to the download area, so that people can find it more easily, and have more confidence that using it is actually stable and supported. Hash checksums and OpenPGP signatures for bonus points :)
/Simon
