I don't see Mozilla doing this soon as they are expanding their brand beyond standalone browsers with the phone operating system called Firefox OS.
They protect the Firefox name because they don't want users to get confused if a modified version calls itself Firefox when it really isn't.

Yeah, but it would be nice if they would lift the "noncommercial" restriction.
