Recently, my 3 year old daughter was diagnosed with slight speech impairment according to her Development specialist.

What I'm looking for is a "Libre GNU/LINUX program or software that specialize in teaching and reinforcing kids in pronouncing words, short sentences, ETC.

My daughter has a slight slow speech pattern, that with the right tools and treatment, she could over come her speech impairment. Some of the techniques and tools, I have already replicated by reading, flash cards and using breathing techniques to help my kid recognize sounds.

I would like to use one of my computers, so my daughter could practice at home at least one hour per day. Most of the programs out there are compatible only for windows OS and they do cost hundreds of dollars.

I'm reaching out to the community for help, don't need pity but good pointers where to go.

There is some Linux programs already but and the end of the road, they want money, big money for their programs.

Honestly, I'm on a tight budget, it is my daughters future and my sole responsibility as parents to help her. I hope you understand.

I'm no Development specialist but I'm sure if you read a lot to her that will help. Don't get too scared and keep it fun and remember the change won't come over night. Reading will teach her much more besides speech. Maybe also more time with friends, i.e. more speech, might help.

In addition to that, perhaps there's something here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Free_educational_software

You did not ask for pity, so I will not give you that. I just hope that you and your family will come out of this stronger as a family after this difficult time.
Also, I would maybe suggest these two games:

http://games.kde.org/game.php?game=ktuberling
http://edu.kde.org/klettres/

Both are available in Trisquel add software.
I am not sure, however, if this was what you were looking for or not... Please, try to explain in greater detail what you need, I am not sure if these games will be of any help or not (at least it will allow her to listen to words, maybe you can use that to help her repeating them).
I would also sugest making not only a search for "kid's software" but "english learning software" in general. People who want to learn a new language often use that kind of things. The games I posted have more appeal to a kid, but maybe more adult programs would be helpful too.

Keep asking more questions, will try to help with this.

Dear forum participants

Anything useful for Assertive Software for Disabled Learners, in this case my daughter has a speech problem, nothing is wrong with her reading and comprehension, is her Speech slowness not retardation. This a common problem that affects millions of kids, All your links are great, ATutor program looks promising.

My main focus is to re-enforce my daughters speech therapy, besides her 3 times a week speech therapy sessions.

We, parents that have children with learning disabilities have to be pro-active, perseverance and be on point.

It is not easy, as to write it in a forum, but to put it to work in action, for your love one's. There is no room for Laziness, it would be a crime to abandon, in not helping or ignoring your children special needs. What ever selfish reasons you have.

It is the future of our own children, not ours. That is why I ask for help.

I thanks everyone help again.
