Enable deleting files by using waste basket

Dear fellow Trisquel users,

On a Trisquel 9 laptop I'm now without the option to delete files the regular way (by using the waste basket). In Dolphin nothing works, but in Nautilus I get the option to delete the file directly (bypassing the waste basket), in a pop-up notice with this message:

"Unable to create trashing info file for [filename]:" plus "access denied"

Please help! Thank you in advance.

I would try to remove the trash directory (and restart the session):
$ rm -r ~/.local/share/Trash
