So I've been browsing Crapdit ("Reddit") through proxies and I've noticed a disgusting trend of people there who use free software but who don't understand its ethical and political implications, such as people insisting that GNU/Linux be called just "Linux", """Linux""" users happily swallowing pro-proprietary propaganda, among other things, one of the most disgusting of which is people pressuring free software to "not be political", to stay silent in face of injustice.

An example, sorting by the most Controversial posts of all time: https://rl.bloat.cat/r/kde/controversial?t=all

Notice how the comment section of many of the controversial posts are people complaining that KDE is getting "too political". You change to a symbol recognizing LGBTQIA+ communities, boom, "too political". But KDE only exists as a libre desktop because of politics. I quote from https://stallman.org :

"Those who profess to favor freedom, yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will."
Frederick Douglass, American Abolitionist, Letter to an associate, 1849

"They want rain without thunder and lightning." They want free software without the politics. Free software only exists in its form because of politics. It's fundamental to continue promotics the ethics and politics of software freedom, to not stay silent in the face of injustice, to help the marginalized and continue promoting policies that help all, such as the ethics of software freedom. Say GNU/Linux. Say free software. Say politics.

Sorry for expressing myself poorly, I don't mean to hate on these people themselves but rather on their behaviour, the way I put it in the quote above makes it seem like I hate these people and wish them suffering, but no, what I hate is their evil behaviour, not these people themselves, in fact hating on people goes against Trisquel's community guidelines and I've been taught to hate on evil behaviour, not hate evil people themselves. So take my criticism as a hatred of poor behaviour, not as a personal attack against the people themselves.
