I am not sure if this conversation was about Debian or Trisquel. I would like to have OMEMO working in my Trisquel and do not know how to do it.

In Gajim > Edit > Plugins, I go to the "Available" tab, I install the OMEMO plugin, then I go to the "Installed" tab but it does not let me activate the OMEMO checkbox I see.

My Gajim version is 0.16.5.

I have tested it on both debian 9 64bit and trisquel
8 64bit.

Same on my trisquel 8 64bit computer.

This is what I think is the error. They are obsolete.
https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim-plugins/tree/master/omemo
Download and extract the zip file. Omemo -> manisfest.ini.
It says current version of omemo is 2.6.58. And
requires min_gajim_version: 1.1.91.1 and max_gajim_version: 1.2.90.
Version of omemo in debian 9 64bit and trisquel 8 64bit are 1.2.8.

Thanks.

I followed the instructions at https://gajim.org/downloads.php?lang=en#ubuntu

But this is what I get:

~$ sudo apt install gajim-nightly
