I have had a ThinkPenguin Korora running Trisquel quite nicely for 6 months. The trackpad just stopped working, apparently at random. Plenty of searching hasn't produced an obvious fix. Bugfixing such things is not my strong point. Can anyone offer any pointers?

System Settings > Mouse & Touchpad still gives me the normal options, only they don't do anything.

cat /proc/bus/input/devices > devices tells me I have an "ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad"

Does this help?synclient TouchpadOff=0 if not you can try =1 first and then again =0.

Thanks very much for the swift reply. I've tried that to no avail. Indeed, synclient with no arguments returns me a list of settings in which this is already set to 0. Unsetting it and resetting it then rebooting doesn't help either. Any other ideas?

checked the touchpad settings in dconf-editor?

reinstalled xserver-xorg-input-synaptics?

updated your kernel?

Do you have a physical switch? :)

yeah..many laptops have that. Mine has it. A little rectangular button near the touchpad.
I'm sure he checked that out though.. :)

Thanks everyone for the tips. I tried all of them. In the end it turned out to be something similar to the physical switch, though thankfully not as obvious/embarrassing: more or less trying key combinations at random I eventually discovered that fn+F10 toggles the thing. It's the way they keep you guessing...

nice, i was gonna suggest that, but figured it was the same thing as touchpad=0 or 1, good job.
