How do I log into Trisquel 6 when running from the CD?

OK, so it sounds like a stupid question, but as they say, the only stupid questions are the ones not asked. Yesterday I downloaded the iso file for 6.0, and burned the CD. I can boot the CD just fine. Well, it seems fine anyway. I get to a login screen with the only option of "other." I looked at the CD content for the root login, but to no avail. I spent about 2 hours looking through the online documentation, but have not found the answer. I don't even know if the login screen I get is correct. So I need some clarification on what I should be seeing. The machine is a Lenovo T43 with a 2.0 Ghz Pentium M, and 2GB ram. I've run other Linux flavors on it with no issues.

I've been messing around with computers since the Apple II days, but I'm more or less new to the whole GNU/Linux thing. I did UNIX admin about 10 years ago, so I'm not a complete moron with similar operating systems. I know the answer is simple, but I can't find it. Your collective assistance would be greatly appreciated.

That's a bug, shouldn’t be there. Got an ATI/AMD GPU? You're in for a bit of a rough start but don't get disheartened, it's mostly good and not like this...

You can try name: trisquel pass: [none]

If that don't work, switch to VT1 (ctrl+alt+f1) and try to login there with the same credentials. Then sudo service gdm stop and sudo service gdm start to restart the xserver.

If you'd install this probably could be fixed.

I don't know if there all the same although the T43 I have here has an ATI graphics chipset.

I saw this exact baffling behavior on my box with a radeon. Adding nomodeset made it go away and since I need that anyways to suspend and hibernate...

I'm not sure what is wrong although it should be logging in automatically.

I have a T43 laying around and if I have some time later I'll try and boot it and let you know what happens.

I would first check the image integrity and then I would try the username trisquel with no password. Did you tried that ?

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. It's also nice to know there may be issues with the ATI chipset. I'm off to see what I can do. Thanks again!
