Hi guys -- is there a GUI application that can I can use to remove pages from a pdf?
Yes, pdfshuffler.
Hi !
You can also use PDF Mod :
https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/PdfMod
It's in Trisquel repos.
Besides removing pages, you'll be able to rotate, move or add them.
Mono...
Oh ! I didn't noticed it was based on Mono. Too bad… :(
What's wrong with Mono?
It is not "wrong". It is risky (because of the patents on C# and because Microsoft owns those patents): https://www.fsf.org/news/2009-07-mscp-mono
So, why is it in Trisquel repository if pdfshuffle and pdfedit are enough ?
Trisquel's mission doesn't involve purging free/libre software that might include patented ideas, and distributing this software isn't unethical. It's just best to avoid developing programs with C# so that we don't dig ourselves a huge hole and get ruined by Microsoft.
It is believed that there may be some software patent issues related to Mono, so the general advice is to avoid using it where possible.
I see. I don't follow software patent issues, other than I know they're bad and I don't support them. The best I can figure it out, software patents here in Canada are a non-issue compared to the US, and I know the EU doesn't follow them. I install mp3 decoders when needed. I understand why it should be avoided though, I don't go out of my way to use mp3, I just use it when I have to, as long the software itself is free then I'm happy.
Also a GUI program called pdfchain.
Andrew.
Thanks guys
Another graphical solution is PDFedit (in Trisquel's repository).
I just tested pdfshuffler. It's a great app, doing the trick just as well as PDF Mod for simple PDF files handling. Thank you for bringing it to our attention lammi87.
PDFedit can be usefull too. However it seems to me less user friendly for simple tasks such as moving pages. But it was worth mentioning for sure.
use PDFedit
