Ok, you want to have gnome-network-manager start with openbox right? You need to navigate to /home/username/.config/openbox/ and there will be 3 files, click on autostart.sh and add "nm-applet &" without quotes, to the file.

Openbox is only a window manager. LXDE is a desktop environment that uses Openbox. And Trisquel Mini is an edition of Trisquel with LXDE by default.

A window manager will only manage your windows, it is not responsible for setting your wallpaper, file management and other things you would expect from a desktop environment, in order to accomplish tasks you have to use other programs such as nm-applet to connect to the internet, PCManFM for file management, tint2 for system tray etc.

Also, you have to edit config files to change the menu, autostart applications and change how the window manager behaves. In openbox these files are located in /home/user/.config/openbox/ and are in XML.

Desktop environments contain a lot more than a window manager, for example in Trisquel we've got a bottom panel (gnome-panel), a wallpaper that we can easily change, icons on the desktop, important applications (such as file manager) and a main toolkit (GTK+) that the environment uses.

This probably explains the difference better than I do:

You offer a good, simple explanation of what's done by the window
manager, and what's done in a desktop environment, with the link to more
detail.

Thanks,

Dave

See how to install LXDE:

Open "Ajouter/Supprimer des applications" and then write : "lxde"

You should get this:

Install this! ;)

No offense but I have to say something

A lot of people here and in the Spanish list (I guess everywhere can be likethis) is asking things that they should look for in the net way before come here and ask.

I know this place is for asking, but the time of the community has value, and it shouldn't be wasted in stuff that in the web had been answered and documented before.

Here for example:

Basic openbox configuration

Concepts like WM and DE

No offense, but i have something to say.

I realy don't understand why asking people to go away... If you don't like it, just don't give any answer!? Don't waste your time!

But for my self, this the kind of question that i can easily answer. Because i am not a geek. And its a pleasure for me to help this guy. I did'nt feel like i've been wasting my time...

thanks

I think he could get better information by searching the web.
