How to set up Trisquel as a persistent live system booting directly from flash drive?

Hi,
I managed to boot Trisquel mini from a hybrid image I copied on a flash drive. Before the actual launch the menu appeared where I had to choose if I wanted to install it or just try it out. At the moment I use puppy linux as my portable os but I rather want a portable system which is based on Debian/Ubuntu because I know this distro family better. If it would be 100% free software it would be even better.
Is it possible to set up Trisquel so it boot directly from the flash drive and remembers all changes? Without a boot menu and and with encrypted settings? I want to take it with me and use at different computers.
I used the search form a bit but the topics were too unspecific for me.
Thank you in advance for your answer!
I successfully created a persistent live USB from a Debian hybrid ISO. It didn't work on Trisquel (wouldn't boot, COM32 error). I wonder if the Trisquel ISO is a hybrid or not. There was no 'live.cfg' in /syslinux.
If anyone is interested, here's how.

Debian on a USB2 is pretty slow. Librepup is a better choice for a mobile travelling distro setup.

Follow the "Trisquel (Graphical)" section of https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/how-create-liveusb but choose some "reserved extra space".

The "Startup Disk Creator" does not do that. However, if you know how to do that with Ubuntu, there is a good chance it works as well with Trisquel.
I can confirm that Startup Disk Creator works. I had reservations because it is rumoured to fail more often than not. Not the case this time, however. With a USB3 interface and a fast USB key it should be usable. I'm on USB2 and my sticks are painfully slow.

Yes. To get rid of the menu, edit GNU GRUB's config. This I'm sure of. Of course the BIOS needs to boot from USB before HDD etc.
I _believe_ the persistence works if you make a file or a partition on the stick labeled casper-rw. If I'm not wrong it's a COW (copy-on-write) type of solution, so also removing packages will make the persistence file/partition get fuller as the diff grows. Once you fill up the persistence you hit the wall and the party is over so watch out...
