I can highly recommend Triskel!

I installed it from scratch using the text based installer option (which is like the debian installer). In the past I tended toward Gnome, but I really don't like Gnome-shell, and I don't like Mate that much either. I had had a little trouble with triskel previous to this when I installed it using apt-get from a default Trisquel installation, because the default options in kde didn't seem to work right. But installing Triskel from scratch seems to resolve those problems. I'm in the process of converting over from my traditional Gnome based apps to qt, kde or cross-platform apps. The one exception is gnucash. I love that app and it runs just fine in kde.
Thank you for sharing
I agree, ewlabonte. The text-based installer is great, but it takes time to test which programs are up-to-date and work within each platform. The big questions for us on creating USB sticks was, "What do you add to Trisquel Pro for businesses, Trisquel Edu to have everything for children thru adults, and basic Trisquel so users plug it in to release the power of their PC?"
People just want it to work, and most don't care how. They'll even pay you to do it for them. Someone told me last week, "I have 10 computers in this office. MS is killing me with anti-virus and software upgrade costs. I don't want to know details, just fix this crap now, please!" :-)
Do good things!
Well, be that as it may, it's still a good desktop experience. I hope it will still be available whichever direction Trisquel heads.
