I found a cheap free/trisquel-compatible USB wireless network adapter on Amazon

A few months back I got fed up with maintaining the proprietary drivers/firmware for the Broadcom wireless network adapters my HP laptops used. I cross-checked several devices listed at [h-node.org] with listings on Amazon and found a compatible device for under $15 sold by Etekcity: [http://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Wireless-Computer-Network-RTL8187L/dp/B009SQ5YL2/]. There are two other listings with different antenna sizes, but presumably the same chipset.
The product works flawlessly with Trisquel; it's plug-n-play, so presumably the drivers and firmware are in the Linux-libre kernel. I must admit, however, that in my search I bought another product that looked promising, but turned out to be incompatible with GNU/Linux. Such is the risk when looking for good wireless hardware.
In the future, I look forward to purchasing another good USB wireless network adapter from [libre.ThinkPenguin.com]. They're a bit more expensive, but guaranteed to work with free software and my money would go to support an ethical free hardware vendor and some of it would go to help the Trisuel project.
Nice find! Thanks for sharing, I've been looking for a compatible one myself. I tried a NetGear per H-Node but it didn't work properly.

What I;m about to say, it does not implicate any kind of business deals but The think penguin store has some solid hardware at a very good prices. Check it out, all of his products are Trisquel GNU/LINUX COMPATIBLE.
I love ThinkPenguin. It might sound weird, but I consider them the Apple of free hardware, because they sell premium hardware for premium prices that are practically guaranteed to work together because it's all based on FOSS. My USB Sound Card from them is doing wonders for me. I look forward to future purchases from them: I doubt I'll look anywhere else whenever need a new laptop.
