Interesting bit of information for anybody in need of an update:

This should make it easier for users to update *just* the graphics components needed for the latest 3d acceleration, etc (for newer systems than Trisquel natively supports).

In this case it's just "Linux"(kernel) or am I mistaken?

I'm assuming it'll work with linux-libre although I didn't really think about it. Not sure how it works exactly. Maybe somebody else can try it, investigate, and clarify.

I think he was talking about naming issues.

The drivers are for the kernel, Linux(-libre?); the installer, being a GUI, runs over a WM, so it could be over GNOME (a GNU project) or others (KDE etc.). I don't know if it would be using GNU in other cases (e.g. KDE, which uses Qt... do anybody knows if KDE needs GNU?).

Its a Linux driver. Does it need GNU? Kind of. It is probably linked against glibc/libstdc++ (even though there is libclc, but nobody™ uses that)

[™] I heard folks at FreeBSD like Clang stuff.

so yes, the installer wont work for Trisquel, but there is a description how to add the driver repository manually to the system. i tried that and it seems to work.
