Will they be compatible with libreboot (e.g. work without non-free VGA option ROM)?
"Open Source" is meaningless. Even if certain software is licensed under GPL v2 like Linux kernel, it can still be tivoized.
Moreover, in new platforms, it is impossible to flash coreboot or libreboot, because of Boot Guard.

I just copied the title from Slashdot without editing it in such a way that it becomes more compatible with Trisquel's forums (I probably should have replaced open source with free software).

Won't the GPUs be compatible with POWER CPUs?

It is too soon to know. But: The "request_firmware" calls don't look promising. Linux-libre deletes those.

Not a ThinkPad. I'd rather stick with the X200 just for the trackpoint. I don't use the mouse much, so when I have to I hate having to move my hands away from the keyboard. That's not a freedom issue though. :) If the G505 can be liberated there are people I might recommend it to. Can you link to a source for this information?
