Java won't work

In Trisquel 3.5, today I noticed that Java doesn't work at all in Icecat, which is based on FF 3.6. It still works in the default browser, based on FF 3.5.
Is this an issue that started with FF 3.6? What packages could I be missing?
A clue to the reason for the problem may be found here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using+the+Java+plugin+with+Firefox
Apparently, FF 3.6 now requires the Java plugin that comes with nonfree Java 6 update 15 or higher.

That's not true, the free Icedtea Java plugin works nicely with Abrowser
3.5 and 3.6 in Trisquel 3.5 and 4.0 respectively.
That must be a bug in IceCat, it does not load the system plugins
properly (it needs them to be in a not standard place). That is one of
the reasons we have Abrowser, which is -other that bugs like that-
mostly identical.
Thanks for the info.
I'm probably going to switch over to Abrowser wen 4.0 releases. It seems a better choice for stability and compatibility in general.
Another question: why is the trademarked FireFox in our repos?
I had to install the Sun Java for a friend of mine. I previously installed Trisquel for them and they loved it, but their online banking would not work with the free IcedTea Java.
Thanks for spreading Trisquel!!
I don't see what's wrong with the Java player. Desktop Java and Java Webstart work. IcedTea has passed Sun's (sorry, Oracle's) tests and is simply OpenJDK with GNU Classpath.
http://browserspy.dk/java.php detects the java plugin, but only under certain circumstances.
