Leaving Ubuntu, considering Mint

I was wondering about a change of Trisquel base from Ubuntu to Mint. As stated even in the last release announcement: "Ubuntu continues to shift towards snap packaging", and I think Ubuntu won't stop here. The Mint team has a similar position about snaps. So I was thinking, why not considering to have Mint as a base instead of Ubuntu? It is extremely easy for new users, and all the software they put it in (like video player, updated manager etc..) are open source, so they could be reused with no problem in Trisquel. Trisquel could also have a cool Software Manager in this way. At the same time, there would be less work for Trisquel developers, concerning the fact that they will have less Ubuntu crap to clean from the system.
What do you think?

Every proposed replacement for “free software” has some kind of semantic problem—and this includes “open source software.”
I think we should still use proper terminology here. The Trisquel Project is all about Free Libre Software.
"Open Source" has a different outlook on software. Many younger people seem to mix these up not realizing they're missing the point.
