To my knowledge libreboot only supports the thinkpad x60 (and t60). The duo core cpus in thinkpad x60 are t2300 and t2400. The libreboot bios will only work on the thinkpad x60? If another computer brand has a t2300 or t2400 cpu build in, libreboot will not work on the computer?

There are several other CPUs used in X60/X60s/X60t, like L7400 (64-bit
Core 2 Duo). Every board needs a different coreboot/libreboot build:
X60 and T60 need different while they have the same chipsets and CPUs.

Northbridge (i945), southbridge (ICH-7) and EC are more important than
CPUs for boot firmware support.

Spot on, there is usually very little that the firmware has to do with the CPU's, the motherboard is really the deciding factor.

I own an old Apple PowerBook G4 17" Laptop (January, 2005], I'm willing to install a new OS but the problem that I see is the Toshiba processor not lintel dual core. Any hints?

PowerPC, not supported by Trisquel (might be easy to port: Ubuntu
supports it). Significantly different than libreboot-supported
computers discussed in this thread.

Use Debian without nonfree/contrib.
