See FSF's statement:

But we still need to keep on fighting.

i just got double-trolled. when i saw the title i thought i was in for a chuckle. turns out, the post in the troll lounge about "microsoft doing something right" was from the fsf, and not on april 1. but i had no idea oin was so weak: "any OIN member, including Microsoft, can withdraw completely with thirty days notice."

maybe someone less cynical can explain to me why this translates to anything more substantial than "we promise to wait at least 30 days before suing you." there should be a year notice, i think.

please note, im not just referring to microsoft joining oin, im referring to the entire concept theyve just decided to participate in.

"They do not mean that Microsoft has dismantled or freely licensed its entire patent portfolio."

hear, hear. next week: "microsoft unveils github 2.0", thats got to be all this is about. and no one paying attention or even remotely on our side thinks github 2.0 is or will be a good thing.

Apparently Microsoft can still extort patent fees related to exfat, since exfat is not part of upstream Linux:
