Minetest on Trisquel is an old version and I can't play on the server I normally play on with it, how can I update it?

Hi there,
I had this problem too. Trisquel's version of Minetest is outdated, so to get the most recent version, add the Minetest PPA.
Do this:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:minetestdevs/stable
sudo apt-get update
You should now have the most recent version.

I'm not sure if updating will allow you to play on the server, that might be a different issue.
But in all likelihood updating should do the trick.

Maybe it will be possible because now many public servers require latest Minetest version, on many of them, protocols used were changed.

it seems minetest themselves also maintain daily/unstable builds
