Probably the usual: don't install random crap from the net but stick to the repos. Use the NoScript extension for abrowser and whitelist with care. Apply updates regularly. And don't run servers you don't need or have unused packages installed. etc etc

Install gufw and press enable. Deny incoming traffic.
