opening .ibook format files

I tried to open an .ibook extension file with Calibre but it could not
do it. Does anyone know how to open this ebook file?

have you tried renaming to epub? ibook seems like something that can only be opened by apple products. (seen in wikipedia) calibre faq seems to confirm it. http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq.html

I did and it worked. Thank you. The formating is not perfect but it is
readable now.

I did check those but did not see anything there about being unable to
open it. Would you please cite?

in the list of files it can open ibook is not mentioned.so if it is not there I cannot cite it. in the wikipedia about ibook it somewhere mentions how it is only for apple products and something about epub. sorry bit of a pain to cite using phone.
