If it goes as scheduled, Ubuntu 12.04.3 will be released on the 22nd with these three backported features of 13.04 installed by default:

1. linux-generic-lts-raring
2. xserver-xorg-lts-raring
3. libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-raring

The backported xorg and libgl1 libraries are already available in the Trisquel repos, but there is no Linux Libre kernel equivalent for Trisquel yet. We currently have the 12.10 kernel (version 3.5) backported, but it would be nice to have an option to have the Raring kernel (version 3.8) backported by jxself as well.

I think it would be a big benefit to offer the 3.8 kernel for Trisquel 6 to help with the longevity and sustainability of it.

Not sure I understand.. I mean, you can put 3.10 in Trisquel right now, can't you? There's a ppa and everything. =x

That is true that you can install the latest linux libre, but these are newer packages besides the kernel. On top of that, sometimes people want a kernel that matches the Ubuntu release. We currently have that with the stock and 3.5 kernel from 12.10.
