Printer setup with Trisquel mini

On Trisquel, my network printer was easy to install. On Trisquel mini, it was asking me for a driver, and although I had more drivers installed than on Trisquel, it did not work.
I noticed that on Trisquel, when setting up the printer, I had an option to use IPP with DNS-SD (no clue what it means), so I had the idea to search for packages with ipp in the name, on Trisquel and on Trisquel mini. This is how I noticedf that ipp-usb was on my Trisquel system but not on Trisquel mini.
Then I tried installing ipp-usb on Trisquel mini and then I could install the network printer. On Trisquel, "aptitude why ipp-usb" says it is a dependency of trisquel-print-system, but on Trisquel mini, it was not installed.
I understand that Trisquel mini is trying to be smaller than Trisquel, but is it really beneficial not to install this package for Trisquel mini? From a feature perspective, it seems to be like a basic feature that also should be there by default in Trisquel mini.
By the way, the Canon Pixma TS8100 works fine for printing and scanning with Trisquel and Trisquel mini (using xsane).
I recently noticed that avahi-daemon is not installed by default in Trisquel Mini Aramo:
"Avahi is a fully LGPL framework for Multicast DNS Service Discovery".
It is a dependency of ipp-usb, among other things that are installed by default on a Trisquel system but not on a Trisquel Mini system.
On Trisquel, "aptitude why ipp-usb" says it is a dependency of trisquel-print-system, but on Trisquel mini, it was not installed.
It looks like Trisquel Mini not including the trisquel-print-system is a deliberate choice of the developers.
