ahoi, am very happy with Trisquel 6.0 and curious

are there already any plans for what comes next? where is it going from here? i believe there have been discussion about
(i) should the next Trisquel release again be based on Ubuntu or Debian or something else?
(ii) if it stays with Ubuntu, what version will it be based on? LTS or STS?

well, as i said, am just curious and wonder what the current plans might look like

This was discussed in the developer meetings, I believe:
https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/developer-meetings

Trisquel will be based on LTS versions of Ubuntu with a new Trisquel
release every 6 months with backported versions of things. There are
no plans to switch to Debian.

If the stable version of Debian has the same release timespan that
Ubuntu LTS, why use Ubuntu and not Debian?

- Ubuntu has a longer support lifetime than Debian
- Difference in browser release models
- Ubuntu has a shorter freeze and development cycle than Debian
- It's potentially useful for the free software community to have an
Ubuntu replacement

There was a discussion about this a few months ago:
https://trisquel.info/en/forum/after-version-6-trisquel-moving-lts-only-releases

I am happy both ways - whether Trisquel uses Ubuntu or Debian as a base.
In that thread I gave a few advantages for using Debian over Ubuntu as well.
