"Shumway" - a JavaScript SWF Runtime

Other Trisquel users might be interested in this: Mozilla is producing a Flash/SWF runtime called Shumway. It is written in JavaScript. I would guess that it might eventually be made available as an add-on to Firefox, like pdf.js.
I wouldn't have thought it would be viable to do that, because of performance reasons, but obviously I'm wrong!
Maybe I'm being over-optimistic, but maybe this will become a more complete Flash replacement than Gnash and Lightspark. I've noticed that Mozilla projects tend to have a lot of success.
This could prove to be interesting. I'm always sceptical though. Personally I'd like to see flash go away in all its forms. That way there isn't some dev team trying to always play catch up with the official flash releases. A widely used open standard would be great.

just read it. this seems very good! seems you will not need to install it because they aim to make it built in html5 .

I personally would rather install it, because that way I'm free to modify it and I don't have to trust the server serving the JavaScript. :)

+1. But being pragmatic is sometimes okay as well. I don't think SWF is going to disappear in the next ten years, although it might decline in popularity.
