Whenever I try to play 10-bit H.264 videos with Totem, I will get this error message.

"Could not find GStreamer caps mapping for FFmpeg codec 'h264', and you are using an external libavcodec. This is most likely due to a packaging problem and/or libavcodec having been upgraded to a version that is not compatible with this version of gstreamer-ffmpeg. Make sure your gstreamer-ffmpeg and libavcodec packages come from the same source/repository."

What should I do to fix this problem?

I am not very knowledgeable about this subject, so if you have a solution, please explain it in a way that is easy to understand.

It appears that you will need a newer version of (at least) gStreamer. Future versions of Trisquel should come with out of the box support for it.

Thanks for replying. How can I get a new version of gStreamer? Do I have to install new updates or software? Do I have to type any commands in Terminal? Do I have to use the Synaptic Package manager? Or do I have to wait until the next version of Trisquel is released?

Use smplayer instead; it has better codecs. The codecs are libre equivalent of CCCP on MPC, and probably better in terms of memory usage.

Go to System Settings, click Synaptic Package Manager, go to Quick filter and type smplayer. Check the mark for installation and press apply.
