After downloading the iso, the md5checksums matched.
A dialog asked whether I want to Continue the installation or Quit. I clicked Continue and the installation continued, but did not at any point ask on which partition I wanted to install Trisquel.
I already have Pinguy OS and Windows 7 installed.
During the installation animation, there was not progress bar. I stopped it after a while.
You only take care of the partitioning if you select a "custom partitioning scheme".
Ubi-partman crashed, so there was no opportunity to select a partitioning scheme.
I had that problem a pair of times some time ago. I was very afraid of being formatting the HDD of my friend, so I cancelled the installation (or rebooted the machine) when I noticed that it didn't ask about partitioning but it was doing things further. However, nothing bad happened apparently.
I didn't remember if could overpass that issue and installing trisquel. Normally I try to install a previous version of trisquel.
Could you rerun the installer from the terminal? There may appear a message that could help in identifying the issue.
I ran this command from the terminal:
$ ubuquity --desktop %k gtk_ui
But no error messages appeared after the crash dialog.
I will write another disk from the iso and try again.
Success at last!
I finally managed to install Trisquel 5.5 on my Acer 3660 laptop. When I tried to install it before, I had Pinguy OS and Windows 7 dual-booted. I tried to install Trisquel over Pinguy OS, but Ubi-Partman crashed every time during installation.
Later, I installed Xubuntu on the whole hard drive. Tonight, I decided to give Trisquel another try and installed it on the whole hard disk, and it worked!
My wifi also works.
Free as in Freedom!
Congratulations and welcome! :)
