Using Owncloud with Icecat and Icedove

I am wondering what the steps would be to keep my Icecat and Icedove content on Owncloud so its available to multiple computers. The sticking point for me to want to do this is that my calendar is local only via Lightning in Icedove and it seems generally silly to me to have multiple "sync" accounts when I already have Owncloud. Its been a long time since I did this, but as I recall from the dark days of Windows/Dropbox it was as simple as keeping the profiles in Dropbox. Would this work with Trisquel/Owncloud and if so is there a tutorial somewhere to set it up?

The problem with owncloud is that it does not do any client-side
encryption so the server owner has your data.

I use owncloud to keep my emacs org-mode files in sync between my home
and work computer.
What I do is use cryptkeeper which is a EncFS frontend for the directory
TextFile->Encrypt->Sync->Decrypt->TextFile->Encrypt->Sync
