Volu,me is quiet for applications like Youtube

I have moved the volume slider on the youtube control, and also the volume slider in the bottom right of the desktop. I still don't hear things very loudly.
Is there another setting that needs to be adjusted?

Have you tried start>system settings>sound>output volume to max (155%)?
Thanks, baptistedbloom - that has helped. Is there anything else I can do to pump up the volume?
The speakers are internal, on a laptop.
I think it depends on your hardware. My EeePC X101ch has only the left speaker and it's good enough for me. Have you tried using ear/headphones? Do they have low volume as well?
Do this:
1. Open Terminal
2. Type alsamixer, press Enter
3. Check if all your bars are full.
4. Press ESC to exit.
Fire up alsamixer and see all the sliders.
