Hi,

I have some problems with Gajim. I have to configure Group Chats every time I need to use them. When configuring a new Group Chat, the two check boxes below ("Bookmark this room" and "Join this room automatically when connect") are grayed out. I managed once to bookmark them manually in a different way (I cannot remember how) but it did not work either, I restarted the app and the Group Chats were vanished.

Anyone knows how to solve it?

I tried to install a newer Gajim than the one from the Trisquel 8 repo, but I faced many problems and abandoned. I tried different installation methods -with my limited knowledge.

Anyone managed to install a newer Gajim?
If so, how did you do it?

I like Gajim because it apparently is a consolidated and alive Free Software XMPP client, but I would not mind to install any other XMPP client if you Trisquelers trust it. It just needs to support OTR, OMEMO and be easily Torifyable.

Thank you!

I can't replicate this. If I go to

Actions -> Join Group Chat -> Join New Group Chat

and fill out the form, initially only "Join this room automatically" is greyed out, and it become selectable once I select "Bookmark this room". I wonder if all XMPP servers support persistent rooms.

I doubt a newer version of Gajim will make a difference. If you want to try another client, Pidgin is included in Tails, so I assume it's fine with Tor, OTR, etc.

If you really want OMEMO support, then you have to stick to Gajim.

If OMEMO is optional, then you'll have many more options, e.g. Pidgin and Psi-plus, both with OTR support.

Thank you mason and nadebula!

In my case both "Bookmark this room" and "Join this room automatically when connect" check-boxes are grayed out :(

I found this when looking for XMPP clients with OMEMO. So I may go back to old Pidgin.
